HANDS AT WORK

EVERY DAY PEOPLE DOING EVERY DAY JOBS FROZEN IN TIME BY A STORYTELLER

This project came about because I love hands and all that they help us to do. I think hands are the part of the body that can tell us the most about a person apart from their face. But faces are often photographed and turned into works of art and I wanted to push the boundaries and try something new.

Through this project I will give you the viewer part of a story and let you create the rest. For example from first glance you can tell what industries I've had the please of photographing so far. Now if you take some time to look at each individual image you'd probably be able to guess the person's age and sex and start to build up a picture of what they look like and what jobs they do every day from there. That's what I love about this style of photography - at first glance it tells you a little story but if you stop and look for longer, a whole world starts to open up before you.

So far I have learnt so much from spending a few hours with people at their jobs. It's putting me in situations I never thought I'd be in and it's letting me meet some fantastic people with fascinating jobs that love what they do just as much as I do.  We'll see where this goes but I hope you enjoy some of the work we've created so far.
